Another female client who had a road traffic accident settled her case for €73,000.00 plus costs. The Injuries Board (PIAB) had initially assessed the case at €36,000 in 2012, but would not allow a number of expenses such as loss or wages and treatment costs. The Injuries Board/PIAB assessment was rejected on this basis and the matter proceeded to a settlement meeting at the Four Courts in Dublin, whereby settlement was negotiated by Senior Counsel, Mr David McGrath SC. This case shows how limited the Injuries Board can be in valuing cases and failing to allow for properly entitled losses.
